Jason Forester has been a bass player since accidentally becoming roommates with a guitar teacher in the 80’s. Interest in the guitar was pushed aside when it was explained ‘just look at you – anyone that big is clearly a bass player’, which lead to some quick lessons and even more hasty trips on stage backing artists at open mics, firmly setting the music hook.
Jason has backed everything from Hendrix trio Ka Ike to Big Island ska band She Go, from 50’s and 60’s covers with Vuja De to 90’s jam band originals with Melodious Thunk, lately landing on psychosurf rockabilly in the KokoHead Syndicate and classic Chicago blues as an Enabler with Mark Prados, and in folk-rock outfit 7 Pairs of Iron Shoes which just released a new album in 2015.
Recording with Melodious Thunk let to an interest in engineering projects for local musicians and some great CD release parties. Jason enjoys helping smaller acts get high quality recordings of original music.
Highlight moments include opening for Dick Dale, Derek Trucks, Go Jimmy Go and Ginger Baker’s southern rock band The Masters of Reality
